PM Modi inaugurates the 11th meeting of the Inter State Council in New Delhi

The 27th meeting of the Southern Zonal Council was held at Thiruvananthapuram on 28.12.2016 under the Chairmanship Hon’ble Home Minister. The meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Kerala and Puducherry, Lt. Governor of Puducherry and Ministers from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Secretary, ISCS, Chief Secretaries of Government of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, U.T of Puducherry and other senior officers of member States and concerned Ministries/Departments of the Government of India.

Some of the important issues discussed in the meeting were issues relating to security of fishermen, issuance of biometric cards to marine fishermen and issue of card readers, Peninsular Regional Industrial Development Corridor, High Speed Rail Corridor, introduction of Peninsular Tourism Trains in Southern Zone, allocation of funds in proportion to population of SCs/STs for scholarship for all courses, prevention of communicable diseases, containing activities of Maoists in the tri-junction area of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, optimum harnessing of renewable energy available in Southern States, promotion of oilseeds and oil palm cultivation, development of Puducherry Airport, etc.
