22nd Meeting of the Western Zonal Council at Mumbai

PM Modi inaugurates the 11th meeting of the Inter State Council in New Delhi

The 22nd meeting of the Western Zonal Council was held at Mumbai on 21st October, 2016 under the Chairmanship of Union Home Minister. The meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Gujarat; Deputy Chief Ministers of Goa and Gujarat; Administrators of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Minister of State for Home, Government of India and other Ministers. Chief Secretaries and other senior officers from member States and Government of India also participated in the meeting.

The Council deliberated upon various issues relating to Coastal Security, Issuance of Fishermen Biometric Identity Card & Card Readers, Formulation of plans for countering terrorism, surplus lands of various organisations/agencies of Central Government to be made available for achieving objectives of ‘Housing for All-2022’, Need for taking corrective steps to check pollution in Damanganga and Kolak rivers, Applicability of Notification Act, 2006 relating to Forest Clearance in Gujarat, Inter State movement of ethanol and molasses without any restrictions under Ethanol Blending Programme, Implementation of Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, Shelters for Urban Homeless, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna for All (Urban) Mission, Bringing back fishermen belonging to Gujarat languishing in Pakistani Jails, issues relating to internal security, education and seeding of Aadhar with Welfare Schemes.
